THE CITY IS AT WAR , A PLACE AMONG THE YOUNG & RICH.
"We have to get out of here," he said, staring at his wife with a pained look on his face.
"I know," she replied, not refusing to look away from his look for a second.
They sat in silence for a moment, as if contemplating their choices. They really had none other than to leave. She smiled as their four year old son clung to her leg, refusing to let go. They would have to be strong for him. He was scared, that much was obvious. Pretending nothing was happening, she pointed a finger at the small candle burning beside them and made it grow substantially in size, and twisting around to create figures. Her son clapped in happiness. That always made him smile. It was the least she could do for him before...
She could already hear the mobs forming. Their cries slashing into her and making her cringe. "Witch! Witches! Demons!" they cried, their voices rising as they got angrier. The flame instantly died out, and she put her son's hand into her own. She knew what she must do now to save them. To save those whom she loved even more than herself.
"Come," she told her husband, resting her hand on his as she led him from their room in their quaint home to the small shed where they kept a horse. She lifted her son onto the stallion, kissing him on his forehead as her eyes glazed over with tears. She kissed her husband one last time before he got on the horse. He didn't know. He couldn't know, or else he would stop her and they would all perish. Before he knew it, she smacked the rump of the horse and created a large fire from the hay in the shed. The horse scared ran off as her husband screamed at her to catch up. Her son's wails pierced through the night sky, ripping open her heart. She closed her eyes, and tuned out everything. This was for them. This was for their chance at a better life.
The mob inched closer and closer and she could see them in the shadows of the fire. They had pitchforks and torches with them. She put a brave smile on her face and focused her attention on them. Both hands in front of her as she started her suicide mission. The fire on their torches became too large and started to consume those that held them. Everything flammable in the area started to burn. Her power, it was taking over her. It was doing what she never let it do - and it was too much for her.
As her husband stopped the horse miles off, he could see the giant fire forming from their town. And if he strained his ears, he could hear his wife cackling in a torturous way as she burned too, dying from her own creation. His own tears prickled behind his eyes, but his son was in front of him, watching the fire he always loved to watch. He would get through this. He would have to for his son.
James Worthington would live on for his mother.
ITS ABOUT WHO YOU KNOW , IF YOU GOT MONEY YOU GET IN FOR FREE.
"As you know the throne of Casticova goes to the eldest child in all situations. However, you two are the first set of twins we have had since Casticova was founded by our first king, James Worthington the First. Meaning this puts me in a difficult position for we cannot split this kingdom in two."
Both twins - one male, one female - looked at each other from across the room and smiled. Despite the fact everyone was in a turmoil about who exactly was going to get the throne they still liked each other. They were twins after all, they did absolutely everything together. Thus had their own agreement started. Whichever one that ended up with the throne, would share the throne with the other sibling. A nice and generous way for both twins to get the throne at the same time. If only their stupid father would die already and give someone the bloody throne so they could put their agreement into motion. It didn't matter what he said in this boring meetings of his, because they both knew that they would be King and Queen of Casticova when the time came. Why would either of them want the throne all to themselves when their other half could share it with them?
"I will be creating my will tonight, and tomorrow, you will find out which one will be ruler of Casticova. That will be all."
Both of them nodded at their father, showing respect before leaving the throne room and standing before each other. They were so alike it was a bit frightening. They stood at the same height, had the same features, the same colour hair; when they were children, their mother would have to put different colour sashes with their names on each other so she could tell the difference. That was before it became obvious that one was a female and the other a male. "Guess we'll find out tonight," Theodore said toward his sister Felicity.
She nodded in agreement and smiled at him. "As if that matters, we'll both be ruling anyways. Bye Theo," she told him, looking at her brother at what was to be the last time without hatred.
The next morning she was woken by her maid who looked like she had spent the last hour crying. She sat up immediately in her bed, confused. "What's wrong?"
"The kin-- Oh your fath-- The king --," she managed to stammer before collapsing into a heap of tears.
She got dressed herself, for the first time in her life nobody was there to help her. Nobody was running around making sure she didn't have to life a finger. Everyone was crying or not there, and she still had no idea what was happening. As she rushed to the great hall, everyone suddenly got down on their knees. A sound of trumpets blared and an announcer from somewhere screamed out those words, loudly and clearly in his deep voice. "Presenting your Majesty, the King and Ruler of all of Casticova."
Felicity turned around, expecting to see her father. But she had a clear view as everyone in the crowd were on their knees. Everybody but her and the king. Her brother.
She turned on her heels and marched out of the room to the shock of everybody. No-one showed the new king that much disrespect. It was treasonous, but Felicity didn't care. She was blinded by rage as she rushed up to her father's chambers. She flung open the door, scaring away the doctors that surrounded his dead body. Still attempting to figure out what had exactly killed him. Her blue eyes narrowed at the sight of his ears, which were bloodied and still leaking blood. And she knew what she suspected.
Only one person had that power in court.
Theodore Worthington the Third.
BLESS THE YOUNG & RICH , WITH DESIGNER DRUGS & DESIGNER FRIENDS.
"From this moment on, I declare Casticova to be a democratic government!"
Everyone in the audience cheered as the new Prime Minister stepped up the podium to speak to his new country, but as he started his speech, everyone became quiet. They wanted to hear what he was going to say.
"We have had a long hundred years in Casticova. Civil war has torn apart our great country. But I promise you no more war!"
Everyone cheered once more, except for two members in the crowd hidden in the back. Though both didn't know it, they were mimicking each others' actions. They didn't clap, they just stared at the new 'leader'.
"Part of our new plan is to create a system that will bring everybody together. As of now, both the Worthingtons and the Brighams have both signed a treaty saying they will not attack on public property."
Once more the cheers went up and the two strangers rolled their eyes. Still, nobody noticed them.
"A new neutral group has been created upon approval of both groups. They will make sure our new laws are followed, by enforcing the fact nobody can brawl anywhere. A new facility is being built as well to contain those of us who are deemed dangerous by everyone. It is not a prison of any sort. It will just help you control your ability better. Together, we will create a new and better Casticova! One that is not shunned by the outside world! One that will be embraced by them! Together! WE ARE UNSTOPPABLE!"
And everyone exploded into another mad round of screaming and clapping. The two strangers eyes interlocked on pure coincidence and they stared each other down amid the growing applause. One wore a Worthington colour tie and the other a Brigham coloured one. They were enemies among enemies.
Everyone knew the story. It was taught in history class around the country. James Worthington had established the country with men like him after escaping from England with his father. His mother had died to protect them. They had created Casticova by going to war with the people that lived there. When the war was won, he became the first king in their history. Generation after generation of Worthington's had inherited the throne until a pair of twins were born. Their father was murdered and a will was found to say Casticova was entrusted to his son Theodore. Needless to say, Felicity was pissed. She spread the rumor that Theodore had murdered their father, and Theo, banished her to the northern part of the country. She married into the Brigham family and taught her children to hate the Worthingtons for taking away everything she had thought would be hers.
Thus the feud started, and spanned for a hundred years. The Brighams, though they were not prominent at the time, built themselves up slowly by creating weapons they sold to neighboring countries. They rose in power and rank despite the hatred the royal family bestowed on them. Civil war ensued, and both sides slowly started to destroy their country. And now - after destroying a major historical artifact - they were having to pay the consequences. Everyone was tired of war, and the people urged their Worthington king, to give up his throne and let the country become a democracy. New laws were installed to make sure they did not go to war again. But they still knew. The Worthingtons and the Brighams would never get along.
As was proven by the two who immediately started to battle.
After many people were injured and a couple died, they were stopped from killing everyone off. All this, the new Prime Minister watched from a safe room above them and he shook his head.
Worthingtons and Brighams must stop their feud, and their bloodshed.
GET THE MONEY AND RUN , STICK AROUND AND SEE HOW IT ENDS.
The summer of 2009 was eventful. Why you ask? Let's see...
First the Brighams blew up the entire government building, killing every single parliament member inside. Therefore, destroying the democratic government as everyone knew it.
Did we mention that there really weren't that many people left since the Worthingtons had been infiltrating and quietly killing most of the important members?
Worthington leader was murdered, and the rumor is - his own daughter killed him for that coveted alpha spot.
The neutrals are still in place, and is attempting to make sure that the laws created are still being followed.
Yet both sides aren't playing by the rules. The leaders are both young and extremely temperamental.
Civil war is once more brewing inside the confines of Casticova, which has become the reject capital of the world.
All mutants from countries are being deported here.
Both sides want to reinstate a monarchy. Problem is, they both want that throne. They'll do anything to get it.
So pick a side. Make sure it's the right one; because after all, you only get one chance. Or else you'll end up becoming ANOTHER TRAGEDY.
